Amazon Web Services (AWS) is reportedly in talks to integrate “Grok,” a large language model developed by SpaceX and xAI, into its managed AI service “Bedrock.” Business Insider reports that SpaceX has already provided the model to AWS, though a formal announcement date has yet to be determined. Currently, AWS Bedrock integrates major AI models from companies like Anthropic, Meta, Cohere, and OpenAI, and the addition of Grok could further expand this lineup.

Regulatory authorities in multiple jurisdictions have responded to this issue, and a Dutch court has imposed a provisional fine of €100,000 per day. This is no laughing matter; companies are unlikely to expose themselves to such risks.

then, would AWS consider integrating a model with no apparent demand? One reason could be Bedrock’s positioning as a “department store for models,” aiming to cater to a wide range of needs by offering diverse options. Additionally, the influence of Elon Musk and the brand power of SpaceX cannot be overlooked. However, relying on Grok carries significant risks. Musk’s unpredictable management style and corporate culture raise questions about long-term support and reliability. When choosing cloud services, companies consider not only technical superiority but also the stability of their partners.
